Tip o’ the Day: Prepare to Be Inspired!

Inspiration reveals itself in mysterious ways. Through your daily actions you just might inspire someone, and not even know it! These Tips o' the Day will hopefully help you make an impact in your own life, and help you diminish your footprint on this earth.

There's an extra step you can take to extend the impact to other lives, and it's helping spread the word. We're not encouraging you to be preachy…goodness knows that only turns people off! There are so many ways to inspire people, and each of us has a gift that we can share.

Sometimes this is about making a professional choice and leading by example. More and more we are seeing people that have taken a traditional profession, and turned it green as Summer Rayne Oakes and our own Victoria E., "the eco-models", has done.

Maybe there is a local environmental organization that could really use some help, whether it be for planting trees or office work. It's possible that simply by educating yourself, you could pass on that education to others, as many of us "green bloggers" on the web have chosen to do.

The trick is to find something that inspires you and through using your own special skills find a way that you can make an impact on this earth, and most likely on others. It's amazing how much of a difference one person can make.

Rebecca says: There are so many things that each person can do. It can be something that takes two hours, or something that takes years, such as the Earthrace biodiesel boat tour and record breaking attempt that I wrote about today. Find your niche; I've found mine, and you're lookin' at it!

Great tip! I think some people forget that they don’t have to change career paths to make a difference - there is a “green” way of doing just about every job. For instance, I’m a graphic & web designer, and my niche market is designing for green companies, environmental organizations, and non-profits. I use sustainable paper choices in my print work and sustainable web hosting options in my web work, and of course a big part of my job is educating clients about these sustainable options. Environmental advocacy organizations need help in a variety of fields as well, so there’s always a way to green your profession, or, as I like to say it, make a living by making a difference. :)

You’ve more or less described exactly why I started my blog. It doesn’t always focus on green living, although that is one of the main topics. Good for you for getting more people involved in doing Something Good.

Thanks for the comments! I was concerned that the post was a little too abstract. It’s nice to see that it struck a chord with someone. Thanks again!
