Tip o’ the Day: Strength in Numbers
Ahh. The wind running through your hair, the sun shining on your back…there's nothing like a lazy bike ride on vacation. But bicycles aren't just for passing time in the country or burning off some stress in the mountains. Bikes are a great form of real transportation, probably the greenest.
However, it's not always easy. Riding your bicycle to work can at minimum be a challenge. Cars are not accustomed to accommodate riders, and the roads aren't equipped to properly handle the two wheeled wonders. Sounds like some people, and cities for that matter, could use a reminder!
Enter Critical Mass, a monthly bicycle ride to "celebrate cycling and assert cyclists' right to the road." There is no central organization, and it is, in fact, not an organization. Critical Mass is simply an event that takes place in cities across the world.
So go on, give it a try! This month find your local Critical Mass and join them on on a little tour of the city. Have fun with it: if you're feeling a little saucy, throw on a costume before you hope on your bike. You probably won't be the only one!
Rebecca says: Though I haven't attended our local ride, I have reported on it. All ages, sizes, and dress codes showed up! Bicycles, tricycles, rollerblades, oh my!

Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race.
