Tip o’ the Day: Junk in the Trunk Can Be a Bad Thing

It's okay if you like the ladies with a little junk in the trunk, but we'd better be talking slang! What would we find if we took a look in your actual trunk? Golf clubs? Books? Unnecessary junk?

Excess weight in your car drags down your fuel efficiency, reducing your MPG by 1-2% for each 100 lbs. Already have a pretty efficient car? Smaller vehicles are more affected by the extra weight than larger ones.

It's easy to slip and let the trunk start filling up. Remember the closing segment on Let's Make a Deal, where Monty Hall would give prizes to people that had random stuff in their purse? It could be anything from a paper clip to a turkey baster to a dumbbell. The question is: if Monty Hall showed up at your car today, would you win a prize for all of the junk in that trunk?

Rebecca says: I don't carry heavy items around in my car, but I'm definitely guilty in some sense. I always have a kite and a tripod in my trunk…just in case!
